It feels like a dream come true to be heading to Memphis to attend the Blues Music Awards for the very first time in May. I was thrilled and honored to be nominated for Acoustic Blues Album of the Year by the Blues Foundation for “Let the Mermaids Flirt with Me: A Tribute to Mississippi John Hurt” – my latest album with my musical partner Jim Countryman. Being nominated for a Blues Music Award is something we have aspired to for many years, and with it comes the opportunity to attend the BMA’s – it’s like the Grammy’s of the Blues! We want to share this experience with you, our fans, friends and family, and raise a little money for the trip in the process, as there is no cash prize for the award, and no paid gigs while we’re down there. Any contribution will go directly toward our travel expenses, allowing us to celebrate this milestone and represent our music at the awards ceremony.
