Help Erin (Heppy) Get Back on Her Feet

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jessica, and some of you know me as Bean (what Heppy/Erin calls me).

I've been best friends with Hep since I was 14, and I've watched as she's triumphed over some pretty massive hurdles. From singlehandedly unionising her workplace to successfully completing her ECC education at the top of her class, she has fought hard to make a nice life for herself, her mum, and her pets, yet she never hesitates to help those in need around her.

We've all been out with Erin and had her give us her last cigarette or offer up her last few bucks without any hesitation. I've literally seen her walk home when she gave her bus fare to someone in need.

Now she needs us.

Over the past few years, things have been hard on everyone - but they've been excruciatingly hard on Erin. In 2019 she was dumped by her wife just as she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Her ex continues to dupe both Erin and her mum out of the money they invested in a shared property and refuses to pay court-ordered alimony. To make matters worse, Erin has been on the receiving end of some nasty harassment

This situation sent Erin scrambling to find accommodation at a price she can afford; since working full-time has been impossible due to her health, this has been a challenge. Her beloved dog Starbuck is in desperate need of medical care that she can no longer afford, but she had a plan to get everything back on track.

This past summer, things were looking up. Not only did Erin meet a supportive new girlfriend named Amber, she and her mum Joanie moved in with new roommates. Erin completed a prestigious course at the Vancouver Culinary Institute and received numerous offers of employment from her instructors and fellow students, all of them impressed by her work ethic and talent. She and Amber had plans to move into a better house and begin Starbuck's treatment.

Tragically, these plans came to a crashing halt a few weeks ago when Amber passed away from an unintentional opiate overdose. Erin's life has been incredibly challenging since this time. Not only have her roommates moved out, leaving her and Joanie with excess rent they cannot afford, but the house has flooded and is infested with insects. They desperately need to move, a move they did not plan on and can ill afford, especially without Amber's monthly financial contribution.

That's where we come in. I would like to raise enough money so that Erin and her mum can breathe a sigh of relief, move to better housing, and get Starbuck the medical treatment she needs. This money will also pay for grief counselling and private medical treatment that she cannot currently afford.

Erin is not the type of person to ask for help. I've seen her turn down money and resources she desperately needs because she always thinks that someone else needs it more. But this time, she's the one in need - and we can help.

Please consider donating what you can comfortably afford. It would mean a lot to Erin and her family.
