Help Erin Heal: Covering Surgery and Living Costs
Donation protected
Hi everyone! My name is Erin and i received a double lung transplant 7 years ago due to cystic fibrosis. Unfortunately my transplant led to severe damage to my left leg and foot, leading to a fasciotomy and multiple surgeries in my leg and foot. My foot has a lot of nerve and tendon damage and a few years ago I had a surgery to rotate my foot back to its original placement, pins in my toes to straighten them back out, lengthened my Achilles tendon and other tendons and other things I can’t even begin to medically explain. Basically a full reconstruction on my food and ankle. I’ve had to remain on pain meds to manage my pain especially since I’m on my feet everyday I work. Unfortunately i now have necrosis in my ankle bone and It is collapsing due to the damage endured and the post transplant meds (prednisone), which is causing even more pain. My foot has also started to rotate to where I’m now walking on the lateral side of my foot which is so painful. I now need another major foot surgery to correct all the issues in my foot.
I have been putting off surgery for over a year now because I just cannot manage to take off 8 weeks minimum to recover, especially with bills, groceries, gas, etc continuously increasing. Saving money has just been truly impossible lately.
I also just found out this morning that my Medicaid has dropped (my secondary insurance) and now have 20% copays. I have to reapply for my Medicaid but i have a feeling i will be denied since im working now on paper (not under the table) i now have to figure out how to afford my prescriptions, yearly transplant appointment that’s of course next week and any other doctor appointments.
So I’ve turned to gofundme in hopes yall can help! I know everyone is struggling financially right now due to the economy. Every little bit helps. I would be so grateful for anything you’re able to give. All donations will go towards my mortgage, bills, groceries, dog food and supplies, gas and medical bills/meds while I am recovering. Thank you so much for considering helping me and reading this far. Your donations are truly so appreciated as I’ve really struggled with deciding to make this or not because I know there are people that need the help more than I do.
thank you, Erin
