Hi, my name is Jack Glassman. I'm 19 years old, working toward my GED, and currently living with my grandparents out of state. I’m creating this GoFundMe to support my mom, Erin Glassman, and my six younger siblings, who are in a very difficult situation right now. One of my younger siblings is greatly affected by his Autism diagnosis.
For over a year, my mom and siblings have been living in an extended-stay hotel near the Worthington, Ohio school district. They’ve been stuck in a painful waiting game — applying and reapplying for assistance from Job and Family Services. Each time, there are more delays. Lost paperwork. More forms. More waiting. And while they wait, life doesn't pause. My mom had her SSI disability taken way about 2 years ago. She has tried to get it reinstated and was denied. She is in the process of reapplying. Unfortunately, nothing gets accomplished quickly.
The Reality:
My grandparents have been covering it for over a year. But they simply can’t afford it anymore — and in just one week, my family could be homeless.
Despite my mom’s best efforts, no one in our family is able to co-sign a lease, so finding a long-term rental has been nearly impossible. Without stable housing, everything else becomes harder — including education, mental health, and day-to-day survival.
My mother had suffered depression and now is already struggling with depression and anxiety from the uncertainty and stress.
How You Can Help:
I'm asking for help in any way that you can give it:
Financial support to cover housing and basic needs.
Connections to landlords in the Worthington, Ohio area who might work with someone without a guarantor.
Info on need-based summer camps or programs that could offer relief and structure for my siblings.
Sharing this campaign with your networks.
Anything — truly anything — helps.
Our Goal:
Our biggest hope is to raise enough to get them into a safe rental home and keep them off the streets while we wait for benefits to come through. My mom has been told “soon” so many times — we just need to bridge the gap and hold on until that “soon” becomes real.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for standing with us.
With gratitude,
Jack Glassman
