Help Erin and Josh pay for Maggie’s life-saving surgery

For those who know and love Erin Christian, you know her to be a warm, compassionate person who centers her life around supporting and helping others. As an educator for more than a decade, Erin's students know her as a life-changing force dedicated to creating safe, inquiring spaces in the classrooms of Jefferson County, Colorado. She regularly gives generously of her time and resources to help others and to make the world a better and more illuminated place, from sponsoring her school’s literary magazine club to her scholarly analyses of the Holocaust. As a survivor of the 2019 STEM School Highlands Ranch shooting, Erin has turned her own trauma into a deep personal commitment to nurturing, uplifting and supporting others in the shooting survivor community.
Now, Erin and her husband Josh are facing a new challenge. On Thursday, August 1, their beloved rescue dog Maggie experienced sudden onset paralysis. Erin rushed Maggie to the emergency vet and was given two options: perform a costly but low-risk/high-efficacy surgery to fully restore Maggie’s spinal function, or face the possibility of possibly euthanizing a beloved pet who–at eight years old–would otherwise have years of full life ahead.
Maggie received her life-saving surgery on Saturday, August 3, and is already showing remarkable improvement. Erin and Josh know they made the right choice to keep Maggie with us, but they are now facing steep medical bills.
Any amount you can pitch in will go a long way in helping alleviate the massive burden of Maggie’s medical bills, and will show Erin and Josh how much they mean to their community and friends. Thank you for considering contributing to help out to keep this sweet pup with her family!
