Erika and her ohana are facing unimaginable loss after the recent flood in Waialua. Erika, her two kids (ages 2 and 10), and her family woke up in knee-deep water, and within moments, their home was overwhelmed. As they tried to open the front door and escape, the water kept rising—reaching up to their waists. Their truck was swept away by the current, and in the chaos, they had to help rescue others before finally reaching safety themselves. The devastation has left them with nothing—no clothes, no shoes, and none of the everyday essentials that make a house a home. The kids, especially, have lost all their belongings, and the family is struggling to figure out how to start over.
Right now, Erika’s top priority is finding a safe place to live and recover from the devastating floods. The funds raised here will go directly to helping them get essentials first: clothes and shoes for the kids, school supplies, bedding, kitchen items, and food. Every dollar will help them recover and help create some normalcy and comfort after losing everything. It’s a long road ahead, but with the kōkua (help) of friends, neighbors, and kind strangers, they can begin to recover from this disaster.
They would be immensely grateful for any support you can offer. Your help will make a real difference for Erika’s ohana as they work to recover and heal. Please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser to help them get back on their feet.
