Hello friends,

If you know Erika at all, you know she would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it - even if it was her last shirt. That lovely friend of ours is in serious need of some support now, and it's time we all come together and try to return all of those favors.

On 10/14 Erika was playing "super heros" with Violette (running with Violette in her arms) and tripped on a yoga mat that was out for her disabled foster puppies. Trying to avoid landing on puppies while making sure Violette landed on the couch, she twisted and fell and landed on her ankle. She suffered and open tib/fib fracture and was rushed by ambulance to the closest trauma center to have immediate surgery, followed by several days in the hospital. She was released with and external fixator, a wheelchair and instructions to stay in bed until her next surgery in 2-3 weeks followed by another 6 weeks of recovery and no walking.

ERika has been raising Violette, her 6 year old with autism, mostly on her own... and they just started homeschooling to meet Violette's needs. Already balancing homeschool AND work, being bedridden is NOT ideal!

Unable to work for 10+ weeks AND medical bills being added to the already tight monthly budget is the last thing this little family needs.

On top of all of this, she's caring for tons of fostered animals, as well as her own - all of which have special medical or behavioral needs. Although the rescue does help with those costs, there is a lot that Erika covers on her own to ensure they have the best care possible.

We are raising funds to help Erika with household expenses, medical bills and other costs that come with all she's dealing with. If you are unable to help financially, please share this fundraiser on social media, etc and please consider reaching out to Erika and offering help with house chores, errands or food/meals for her and Violette.

Erika has always managed to keep her head up, and stay more positive than most people would in her position. She's an engaged and loving mother, an attentive friend and a caregiver beyond her means. Let's all come together and help out this extremely good egg when she needs it most.
