Due to a recent change in the government’s policies on immigration, a work colleague, Erika Gil, has lost her employment authorization. Erika unfortunately must leave work on November 7th. This unexpected change has placed a significant financial burden on her, and we want to come together as a community to offer support during this challenging time. She came to the country legally seeking asylum from Venezuela. She has followed all the USCIS requirements and paid the appropriate fees to live and work in America. She has applied for a different type of work authorization, but it will take months to find out if she will be approved. She will be unemployed until she hears a decision. She has a small son and an elderly mother to care for.
Erika has been a valued member of our team, known for her dedication, reliability, warmth, and positive spirit. As she navigates this transition, we are organizing a donation effort to help ease the immediate financial strain and show her how much she means to us.
If you are able and willing to contribute, any amount would be deeply appreciated.
Let’s rally around Erika and remind her that she is highly valued and will be greatly missed.
