Help Erika Bazan recover from COVID-19

Donation protected
Our beautiful friend, Erika Bazan, is now in a long-term care facility in Plano to continue to completely heal and strengthen from the devastating impacts of COVID-19. Now more than ever, Erika and her family need an army to support them in prayer, but there are other ways that we can support them all to ensure that they are 100% focused on bringing Erika home.

Why do we need this?
Our goal with this Go Fund Me is to ensure that Cary and Lauren can balance day-to-day life while supporting Erika’s progress directly. Erika has stopped receiving a paycheck and has not yet met the requirements of long-term care to kick in. Cary’s job as a Financial Advisor is very dependent on his ability to network and meet with clients and potential clients. He has been spending half his day in the hospital with Erika limiting his ability to bring in new clients and income. As their extended community and family, we can ensure that money is not a stress point for any of them.

What will help the Bazan’s?
We are targeting $7500 by April 15 through this effort to cover daily living and medical costs for the next two months. Many of you have already provided financial support through Meal Train and those funds have been so critical. But as we are looking toward extended time in a rehab facility, we see a need for additional support. If 150 people gave $50 – we would immediately achieve our goal, but completely understand and respect that people may not be able to do that much or can do more. We just wanted to provide an opportunity for everyone to contribute.

What happened to Erika?
Erika contracted COVID-19, along with her husband Cary and daughter Lauren, over Christmas. Her cough got more intense and would not allow her to rest. She went to the ER on January 6 where she was immediately moved to ICU and placed on medication and focused breathing treatments. Her lungs continued to struggle to fight off the effects of COVID-19 and became more ill with pneumonia. The physicians were not encouraged by her progress and believed the best option to improve her lung function would be to move to a ventilator. Erika has been on the vent since January 24. She has been sedated and unable to communicate since then. Her heart stopped on January 30, but she was brought back to us through the great effort of the nurses and physicians. She was able to graduate to a trachea, but still sedated and using the vent to breath. Erika began small, but significant improvements on February 22 and has improved enough every day to move to a rehab facility to begin to wean her off the vent and build her physical strength back.

We thank you all for your blessings and appreciate your giving heart to these people who are all so important to us.
