Thank you for taking interest on what's going on with me. First of all, my name is Erika Sandoval, I am 44 years old, single and I live in League City, Tx. On 8/15/24 I received my biopsy results from The Rose. My heart dropped when I found out I have cancer. Yesterday, 8/19, I had my first consultation with my Oncologist and my results state that I have Triple-Negative Breast Cancer, Stage IIB, Grade 3. It's an aggressive, rare type of cancer that is growing rapidly and does not have a specific treatment. So I will be starting my treatment with Chemotherapy for 12-16 weeks, then surgery, and lastly Immunotherapy for a year. Everything is moving so fast and I have 6 appointments to go to in the next few days. My heart feels so heavy. I'm scared, stressed, nervous, you name it!

I'm literally crying as I'm typing this because I am not financially prepared for any of this and I honestly don't know what to expect. I have an appointment this Monday, 08/26, for several scans. I have insurance but my out of pocket responsibility for these scans is $1,896.00. Then on Tuesday, 08/27, to get my chemo port put in, and pay $1,212.00 out of pocket. I don't know how much I will have to pay out of pocket for all the other doctors, medicines, treatment, etc.

Gracias por interesarte en lo que me pasa. En primer lugar, mi nombre es Erika Sandoval, tengo 44 años, soy soltera y vivo en League City, Tx. El 15/8/24 recibí los resultados de mi biopsia de The Rose. Se me partió el corazón cuando me enteré de que tengo cáncer. Ayer, 19/8, tuve mi primera consulta con mi oncólogo y mis resultados indican que tengo cáncer en mi seno triple negativo, etapa IIB, grado 3. Es un tipo de cáncer agresivo y poco común que crece rápidamente y no tiene un tratamiento específico. Así que comenzaré mi tratamiento con quimioterapia durante 12 a 16 semanas, luego cirugía y, por último, inmunoterapia durante un año. Todo avanza muy rápido y tengo 6 citas a las que asistir en los próximos días. Siento un gran peso en el corazón. Tengo miedo, estrés, nervios... etc.

Estoy literalmente llorando mientras escribo esto porque no estoy preparada económicamente para nada de esto y, honestamente, no sé qué esperar. Tengo una cita este Lunes, 26/8, para varios scans. Tengo seguro, pero mi responsabilidad de desembolso personal por estos scans es de $1,896.00. Luego, el Martes 27/8, me colocarán el puerto de quimioterapia y pagaré$1,212.00 de mi bolsillo. No sé cuánto tendré que pagar de mi bolsillo por todos los demás médicos, medicamentos, tratamientos, etc.
