My name is Erik, and I have been living with end-stage kidney disease for over a decade. Every day, I spend 15 hours at home on a peritoneal dialysis machine that keeps me alive while I wait and hope for a kidney transplant. Recently, I developed an infection in my dialysis catheter, which forced me to stop working and made it impossible to keep up with my basic living expenses. The stress of managing my health, combined with the anxiety of falling behind on rent, utilities, and car repairs, has made it hard to stay positive and hopeful for the future.
My greatest motivation is my daughter, Layla. I want to make sure she has a safe and stable home with me, and that we can enjoy our time together despite the challenges we face. The support I receive will go directly toward catching up on back rent, keeping our utilities on, and making sure my car is reliable for medical appointments and daily needs. Your help will allow me to focus on my health and on being the best parent I can be for Layla.
I have always tried to give back to my community in Owensboro, Kentucky, especially as a child advocate for CASA. My dream is to complete law school after my transplant and continue representing children in court. Right now, illness and financial hardship have made it difficult to serve others as I wish. Any support you can offer will help me get through this difficult time and move closer to a brighter future for myself and Layla. Thank you for reading and for considering a donation to our family.
