My name is Erik Gaylan Bergren, born in New York City in 1967. On October 21, 2012, I was SWATed by the State of New York for a made-up reason, and since then, my life has been turned upside down. For eight years, until her passing in 2021, my mother fought tirelessly to get justice for me, but every attempt was blocked. The false accusations have never been removed from official records, making it impossible for me to find work or stable housing. Even job agencies like Goodwill have turned me away because of these records.
After my mother's death, I was left with her properties, but the New York government sold them and kept the proceeds, blocking me from attending probate court. Now, I am living in a friend's attic in Connecticut, without running water for nine months and soon to be without electricity. My landlord is struggling with an electricity debt, and my Social Security income is not enough to help. If the electricity is shut off, I will lose the ability to continue my science studies, write computer algorithms, and contribute to the world. I have always tried to help society, including working for Berkeley National Laboratory's PDG for six years, and I believe I still have much to offer.
I am reaching out for help because I believe in standing up for truth and justice, especially when mistakes by authorities cause harm. Any support you can offer would mean the world to me and help me get back on my feet. With your help, I can keep the lights on, continue my work, and hopefully inspire others to do the same. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for considering a donation.
