Help Erik Get a Bassoon!

Erik and I met in bassoon school at UT. Our friendship fruited when we were placed in a trio together in the fall of 2013. More than 10 years later, Erik has been one of my most constant, reliable friends. He has been there for more than any other friend and has picked me up out of the depths of sadness. He's done so for nothing in return, as is normal for him. Erik is this kind of friend to everyone: dependable, generous, gentle, and more than anything: loving.

There is truly no way for me to repay the kindness and generosity Erik has showed me and so many others over the years, but I do plan on trying.

For the past year, Erik has been borrowing my bassoon for various ensembles he plays in. It's working, but sharing an instrument between two households is difficult, and I would love for him (and me) to be able to play whenever he wants to. His birthday is coming up and there is nothing more I'd love to do for him than get him his very own instrument.

When we were in the sixth grade choosing instruments, neither of us knew that bassoon would be the most expensive option. Neither of us knew that we'd still be playing almost 20 years later either. But here we are.

A cheap, basic, wood bassoon runs about ~$10k. All funds raised here will go directly to purchasing a bassoon and I do hope we can hit the goal because someone as good as Erik deserves a gift as generous as a bassoon. You can see a selection here:
