Hi everyone.

I was really hoping to never have to do this but here I am. As many of you likely already know, my wife, Kara Kimber-Brown, passed away on August 15, 2025, after a five-year battle with early-onset dementia. As I now have to navigate life without my partner of 34 years, I realize that there's a void there that will be impossible to fill. Not only do I need to live with that, but I also find myself with the dilemma of having to deal with a large amount of credit card debt which has accumulated as a result of years of medical bills.

The cost of caring for someone with dementia is expensive. If any of you have had a parent, spouse or loved one in this situation, you know that the cost of caring for your loved one is one you'd gladly pay to ensure that they are able to live out their life with the dignity and grace that they deserve. However, the bills came faster and more expensive as the disease dragged on leaving me in this predicament now.

Kara would probably hate that I'm doing this, but I know she'd want me to continue on and not have to suffer under medical bill debt for years to come. Any help in getting relief from this debt would be greatly appreciated.

In her final years Kara would often ask me to make sure to remember her the way she was before the dementia took over. That is what I'm trying to do now; to remember her for the vibrant, beautiful person she was and not for the disease that took her from us far too early. I will continue to be an advocate for not only dementia research but also diabetes research (as Kara had Type-1 diabetes from the age of seven).
