Help Eric's Family Rebuild After Fire Destroyed Their Home
Donation protected
In the early morning hours of February 14th, my family’s home caught fire. My father, my younger brother and sister, and their two dogs and two cats all lived in the home. The fire started in the kitchen and spread quickly to the attic, filling the house with thick, black smoke. Firefighters worked for hours to put it out, cutting through the roof and walls to contain the flames.
We are incredibly grateful to the Marion Fire Department and neighboring agencies for their efforts, but sadly, what the fire didn’t destroy, the smoke and water did. Without insurance to cover the loss, the damage is devastating—one-third of the property value is gone, and the home is currently uninhabitable.
This house was built by my great-grandfather, making it deeply sentimental to our family. Now, my father is left without a home, and my siblings are facing an uncertain future.
Why We Need Your Help:
My dad, Eric, has always been our rock. As a single father, he raised three kids and worked tirelessly to provide for us. But years of battling heart disease have left him on disability, making it impossible for him to recover from this tragedy alone. Right now, he’s overwhelmed and unsure of what to do next.
Thanks to a voucher, he was able to stay in a motel for a few nights, and a camper was recently donated to him. But the road ahead is long.
They urgently need:
• Power & Water – Utilities were cut off and need to be restored. Right now, they rely on a generator, and there is no running water.
• Basic Necessities – They lost all their groceries in the fire and need food, gas for the generator, and essentials.
• A Place to Sleep – The camper has no mattress or bedding.
• House Repairs – The home needs major work: electrical repairs, smoke damage cleanup, a new roof section, and water-damaged flooring and ceilings.
How Your Donation Helps
Every contribution, big or small, will go toward helping them rebuild and get back on their feet. Donations will provide food, warmth, and shelter for my father and my younger sibling, and help figure out their home. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to us.
Thank you for reading and for any support you can give—it truly makes a difference.
