Help Erich Beck Fight Stage 4 Melanoma Cancer

Hi, My name is Heidi and I am the daughter of Erich and Patricia Beck. For those who don’t know my Dad, in October 2022 he was diagnosed with stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma Cancer (Nodular Melanoma) that had spread to his right Axillary Lymph nodes and right Lung.

Soon after his diagnosis, and after many discussions and tests, the Oncologist at Metro made the recommendation to start him on Immunotherapy treatments given once every 3 weeks with a total of 4 treatments. With probable surgery to follow to remove masses to ensure his chance for more time with us and some quality of life. Initially receiving a promising prognosis saying many do well with this form of treatment. Everyone was hopeful. Dad received his 3rd treatment in March 2023 and that’s when his side effects began. His body began to show signs of negative reactions to the Immunotherapy drugs including 3 hospital stays for Colitis, Pleuritis(Inflammation in the lungs), severe Polyneuropathy in his feet and legs, and a severe infection that caused Septic Shock and was in ICU for 5 days this past week. Currently he is very weak and has no sensation in his feet and is going to require extensive Physical and Occupational Therapy at Metro Rehab Center when he is discharged from the hospital. Cancer treatments of any kind are on hold for now until he heals and gets stronger.

Our Dad is always so loving and helpful to all of his family and friends and is one of the strongest, hard working men we know. To see him suffer like this is so heart-breaking.

As you can imagine, the financial burdens are overwhelming for them right now. Mounting medical bills, hospital parking fees, household expenses…etc. Loss of income for them both will be ongoing for some time. My brother Ryan and I have a goal in starting this is to try and help my parents out financially to help lessen the burden so that all he needs to focus on is his Cancer battle and complications he is now facing.
