Help Erica With Medical Bills & Her Recovery

Hi! My name is Cristy and I am raising funds to help my sweet friend Erica pay some bills while she is having a necessary surgery. Here is her story.

“ Where to begin?!

I got sober on August 13, 2018 after I decided I wanted to live. I found an amazing opportunity in 2020 to work for an organization that brought two very important things in my life together- recovery and staying active. Fast forward to leading events and starting to feel these weird “episodes” happen where I would zone out and couldn’t make any sense when I spoke. On April 1, 2021 (yes, April Fools Day), I had an MRI done that showed I had a brain tumor above my left temporal lobe. A couple months later I had a brain biopsy done at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona where they established it is a Stage 2 Oligodendroglioma brain cancer. I went through 30 days of radiation which consisted of being strapped to a board with this awesome mask for about 30 minutes to an hour each day. I was also fortunate enough to have to take chemo in pill form and did that for a year.

A couple months after finishing my last round of chemo, I went to my cardiologist on December 22, 2022 where he told me I had moderate to severe stenosis of my aortic valve ( i have a bicuspid valve as opposed to a tricuspid that most people have) and would need to have a valve replacement within the next year. Through a second opinion and many tests and scans later, I found out that they also found an aneurysm. Late May I will be going through open heart surgery to have a bovine valve replacement as opposed to a mechanical valve replacement because of the issues surrounding the brain tumor and I will not be able to be on blood thinners for the rest of my life.

Faith has kept me going and having the most amazing support of people in my life gives me hope! I believe in miracles and I truly believe that I was chosen to go through all of this because I need people to know that you can never give up! I will continue to fight with faith. ❤️“
