Erica is an incredibly strong and positive person who has been facing an extraordinarily difficult year. She has an adrenal gland deficiency and severe hypothyroidism, which have not responded to medication. After months of trying to get answers in Spokane, her doctors referred her to specialists at the University of Washington in Seattle for further testing and treatment. This required her to take medical leave from April through the end of the school year in June.

Just as she was continuing to navigate these health challenges, Erica received another devastating diagnosis this October: breast cancer. She needs surgery, but it has been delayed because her other medical conditions must be stabilized first. While she continues to fight on multiple fronts, she has run out of paid leave and now must take unpaid time off for medical appointments and travel to Seattle.

These overlapping health issues have significantly impacted Erica’s ability to work and to support herself and her daughter. As a single parent, she carries the full financial and emotional load on her own. Despite everything, she remains upbeat, caring, and resilient — but the stress, uncertainty, and mounting expenses are overwhelming.
