On Friday, our family experienced a devastating tragedy when severe flooding and mudslides impacted the Hidden Valley area, causing catastrophic damage to our home. For the past 10 years, this house has been more than just a place to live—it has been our home. It’s where we built our life together, raised our two daughters, and made memories with family and friends. Our home was also a safe haven for our pets—one dog, two cats, and a beloved kitten we sadly lost in the disaster.
When the mudslides struck, they left behind extensive damage that has made our home uninhabitable. Like many families affected by this disaster, we are now facing an overwhelming recovery process. The heartbreaking reality is that we have been informed that the damage from this event will not be covered by insurance. This means that every expense associated with temporary housing, repairs, and replacing damaged belongings will have to come directly from our own pockets. Ed has already had to take time away from work so he can remain at the property and begin the enormous task of recovery. Every day brings additional expenses, uncertainty, and difficult decisions as we try to salvage what remains and determine how to move forward.
We are asking for help to ease some of the financial burden during this incredibly difficult time. Donations will help cover emergency and temporary housing expenses, replacement of damaged household necessities, home repair and restoration costs, lost wages due to time away from work, and other unexpected expenses related to the disaster.
