Help Erica and Tanya go to Cannes!

Hi! I’m Erica Lovecraft. Let me tell you about a budding filmmaker named Tanya. (She’s also my wife.)

Tanya has been seriously building her filmmaking career for the past year or so to the point that she even has an IMDB page now! ️

Last year she teamed up with Pico BLVD Entertainment as a 1st Assistant Director. Together with this fabulous team, lead by director Daniel J. Pico, they produced multiple amazing and award-winning short films including The Key and Reasonable Doubt.

These two films were created as part of the 48 Hour Film Project, a filmmaking contest where you make a short film in just 48 hours. You don't know anything about the film you are about to make, including the genre, characters, or any other details before your team’s requirements are literally pulled out of a hat. Writing the script, filming, editing, music… EVERYTHING has to be done in 48 hours. Sleep isn’t really a thing during the contest. In the end, Reasonable Doubt came in the top 5 out of over 100 films made by the world's top teams that weekend.

And now, Reasonable Doubt is going to Cannes! This is a huge deal. Cannes Film Festival is one of the most prestigious and publicized film festivals in the world. It’s a huge honor to have a film screened there. Personal presence at the festival has launched many successful film careers.

Tanya and I have the opportunity to attend the festival, network with industry professionals, and be there as industry professionals. Tanya has the chance to make priceless film industry connections. I have the opportunity to connect with a Hungarian novelist in need of an editor, and pick up additional writing gigs.

However, getting to Cannes isn’t cheap. We plan on doing everything as economically as possible, including flying out of O’Hare instead of Milwaukee, and sharing an AirB&B with other Pico team members.
