Help Erica and Ryder Secure Vital Health Insurance
Donation protected
This is my friend Erica. She’s had cancer multiple times and a heart transplant. Despite everything she’s been through, she has always found a way to stay positive and emotionally strong for her son. I saw the post below today on her Facebook page and thought that life has a funny way of showing no restraint some times. If any of this registers, and at some point you find time and of course funds to donate to a needy person (whom you know it will actually go to) this girl and her son are more than deserving. Thank you. (Please read her post below)
I’m going to start off by saying I am so grateful for my life despite the hurdles I’ve had to jump. I am also going to say that something needs to change in the healthcare system.
Ryder and I are going to have a 90 day lapse in health insurance beginning Sept 1st. I do not qualify for mass health and Cobra is not an option. After the 90 days, the plan I need for my network of specialists will be $400 a WEEK with a 12k deductible and after met, $150/month per specialty med. I take 17 different medications daily for my transplant and Ryder takes 2 for his asthma. I need a biopsy of my left nasal cavity every 8 weeks for two years to make sure the tumor does not grow back. I have a $3100 mortgage and am a single mom. I work full time as a contract nurse and am in school full time for my associates. I had 21 drs appointments, 2 surgeries, and an ER visit in the last 90 days. I cannot go 90 days without insurance. Help. I am already stretched so thin but who knows somewhere I can work evenings to make more to cover my meds. I’m desperate. I will literally die without access to insurance or hitting the lottery to pay out of pocket.
