Hi Everyone,
As we all know, 2020 has been a year of constant tragedy across the globe. Last week my sister and her partner were hit particularly hard with a fire that resulted in the loss of their home and an emergency veterinary visit for one of their fur-babies.
The house they had been renting burned down late Tuesday night, the result of a chimney fire that spread through the walls. Most of the furniture and many personal belongings were lost to either the fire itself or water damage from putting it out.
On Friday Erica and Dan's goodest girl, Buckley, was urinating blood. They needed to make an emergency appointment with a new veterinarian, which ended up being billed for several hundred dollars. Buckley is currently being treated for a kidney infection but her full diagnosis is still unclear and she will need at least one more appointment.
In addition to all of this, Erica's private student loans have not been deferred, so she's struggling to keep up with those bills. (If you have any leads on entry-level jobs in marine science anywhere in the United States, please let us know - she's interested)
Initially they were only taking Venmo donations, from which they've been able to secure a storage unit for items that survived the fire while they look for a new home. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who's helped so far, and everyone who's willing to help. We'll keep everyone updated as they get back on their feet. ♡
