Baby Josiah is only 6 months old, but he has already endured more than most of us face in a lifetime. Born with hydrocephalus, Josiah has undergone five surgeries in his short six months of life. Earlier this month, he received a ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt, but sadly, he has since developed a serious brain infection from the procedure.

Josiah is currently in critical condition at Advent Health Orlando, where doctors are working tirelessly to help him recover. Today, he is scheduled for another surgery to remove the infected shunt. He will remain hospitalized for 2–3 weeks to be monitored closely and will likely need another surgery once the infection clears.

His mother, Erica, has been by his side every step of the way. She is a devoted and loving mom who has had to travel over an hour from home to ensure Josiah receives the best possible care. With no family nearby, Erica is facing this battle largely on her own — balancing emotional exhaustion, financial strain, and the heartbreaking uncertainty of her baby’s condition.
