Help Eric Wright's New Life Chapter Post Wrongful Conviction

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Eric Wright, and I was incarcerated for 36 years for a crime I did not commit. I was accused and convicted of a robbery and shooting that I did not do in Memphis, Tennessee. I have been fighting for my conviction to be overturned for many years --after many years of pain, suffering, and affliction. I never lost faith and hope that one day my innocence would be proven. My prayers were answered in May 2024, when I received a letter from the Tennessee Innocence Project telling me that they would take my case! My innocence was proven in a court of law, and I was finally released October 1, 2025.

I am sharing my story because I need help rebuilding my life. Your support will go towards housing, medical care, transportation, clothing, and to create stability after losing everything. I will never be able to get those 36 years of my life back, but with your kindness and support, I can start to rebuild it now.

Now that I’ve been released, I look forward to making a difference and change throughout society. I hope for change throughout the justice system so that fewer individuals are wrongfully incarcerated. One day I would like to celebrate my freedom by being an advocate and voice for those going through a unjust situation similar to what I have been through.

My Case:
I was released in October 2025 from prison after serving nearly 36 crimes for a crime I didn’t commit.

In October 1989, I was arrested for the robbery and shooting of a convenient store clerk and her boyfriend occurring in South Memphis. I was convicted at a jury trial in 1990 and sentenced to 150 years. My arrest and conviction relied on one cross-racial identification; no physical evidence connected me to the crime.

In December 2024, the Tennessee Innocence Project filed a petition requesting analysis of the fingerprints collected at the crime scene using the AFIS database. The testing produced an alternative suspect, and for the first time ever, there was physical evidence of who committed the crime. This person had no connection to me.

On October 1st, 2025, the judge overturned my conviction, I am now a free man.

Please consider donating today, 100% of the funds raised here will go to helping rebuild my life. I want to leave all of this in the past and focus on this new chapter in life, growing with my family and community. Any amount you can give, no matter how small, will go a long way and help make this new beginning just a bit easier.

I am beyond thankful, blessed, and grateful for your support and generosity! After donating, please share this page with family and friends!
