Help Eric with a Life-Changing Wheelchair
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Eric Rachdorf, and I want to share my story with you. Three years ago, my life took an unexpected turn when I fell ill. It took countless doctor's appointments and over a year of uncertainty to finally receive a diagnosis: ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), a devastating disease that affects less than 5 out of 100,000 Americans. ALS first attacked my ability to breathe, this is typically a later symptom and only happens at the start for less than 5% of people with ALS, making the simple act of taking a breath a daily challenge.
Over the past year, I've had to navigate the immense changes ALS has brought to my life. Sadly, this disease has progressed rapidly, leaving me with only about 20% use of my legs. Living in a split-level house has presented its own set of challenges. However, moving is not an option for me at this point. Despite having a stair lift, getting up and down the stairs has become increasingly difficult. The stairs also make it nearly impossible for me to enter or exit my home without assistance. This isolation from friends and family has been one of the hardest aspects of my journey, not to mention the logistical nightmare of attending my many medical appointments.
But I have hope. I've located a solution that can dramatically improve my quality of life: the Caterwil GTS5 wheelchair. This state-of-the-art wheelchair is designed to climb stairs, offering me the freedom to move around my home with ease but also visit friends and family whose homes are not equipped with lifts. It's a life-changing piece of equipment, one that can help me reconnect with loved ones and ensure I can make it to my important medical appointments.
However, there's a significant hurdle in my path. The Caterwil GTS5 is a specialized and expensive wheelchair, and unfortunately, it's not covered by insurance. That's why I'm reaching out. I'm humbly asking for your support in raising the funds needed to acquire this life-changing wheelchair.
Every contribution, no matter how small, brings me one step closer to regaining my independence and connecting with the people and places that mean the most to me. Your generosity can make a world of difference in my life, and I'm truly grateful for any help you can provide.
Please consider donating to my crowdfunding campaign, and if you can, share my story with your friends, family, and anyone else who may be interested in helping. With your help this life-changing wheelchair can be a reality for me.
Thank you in advance for your kindness and support. Your love and compassion mean the world to me.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Eric
