My name is Eric Sandoval. I am a licensed K-12 Dance & Theater teacher. I discovered in my early 30s that teaching my passions (dance, theater, music, performing) is my calling in life. The opportunity to dance every day & facilitate an open, free & safe environment for creative expression, development & discovery fills my soul with joy.
Over the last 14 months I have been dealt significant blows to my stability, finances, Type 1 Diabetes & Bipolar 1 management, housing, vehicle, overall health & my fragile heart. I've temporarily lost the focus & ability to be a dependable teacher.
In 14 months, I unexpectedly lost my father, totaled my brand new car (to avoid hitting an out of sorts, drunk pedestrian), had everything I owned stolen with a U-Haul truck that I had rented to move (to this day nothing has been recovered except the truck!), was hospitalized 4 times due to Diabetic Ketoacidosis (I almost died each time) and had my right eye surgically extracted due to a severe, painful MRSA infection.
The financial burdens of these catastrophic events combined with daily living expenses, my inability to work as I heal from infections, surgeries, managing out of control blood sugar levels and adjusting to life with one eye have nearly destroyed me. My savings are gone, my credit is on life support and the stress of it all brings me to my knees in tears daily.
At times I have spent my nights sleeping in cars, tents, the airport, hospitals, and outside of office buildings. I am currently on a low cost housing contract that has been a blessing. I still struggle to meet that cost every single day.
Donations will enable me to land in a position to start rebuilding my life. I have surgery scheduled December 27, 2024 for an eye implant and cannot work until that has healed. I am relearning how to read, write, drive and manage my brittle Type 1 Diabetes & Bipolar 1 Disorder.
Thank you for your kind consideration and for taking the time to engage in my journey!
