Our Dad Eric has been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in his throat. We are devastated and scared. It will take all of us to help our dad, as he lives alone and doesn’t have a large safety net. He will begin treatment in the next 10 days.
Our dad is a very hard worker, but Seattle is an unforgiving expensive place to live. Like many folks he has experienced housing insecurity and health issues. Last year he finally was able to get some medical and a modest studio apartment.
We are so relieved he has some insurance right now to cover the astronomical expenses that will come with saving his life — but Dad can’t go work a hard labor job every day now. And medical insurance doesn't cover living. He has 7 weeks of radiation daily, and chemotherapy at the same time - and it is a hard course of treatment with several weeks of difficult recovery. We have to get his rent paid!
We are told he has an excellent prognosis but we need to keep him stable in his studio apartment for the next few months while he beats this and heals. These funds go directly to paying his rent as well as other medical expenses which are not covered by his insurance.
Please support — any contribution is appreciated !
We will have other ways of helping and we will keep you posted -- our challenge is to keep Dad nourished so we may have food drop offs, or need rides. Thank you so much!
