My name is Eric, and for most of my life I've been searching for something I still struggle to put into words.
Over the last couple years, I've traveled up and down the East Coast, and in the past from east to west coast on freight trains, all over on buses, often with little more than a backpack, sometimes a vehicle, and a belief that there was something important waiting to be discovered in the next conversation, the next town, or the next chapter of my life. I've slept in parking lots, corn fields, under bridges, sidewalks, employee housing, spare rooms, and places most people pass without a second thought. I've met artists, magicians, laborers, addicts, business owners, wanderers, caretakers, and people whose stories will never make the news but deserve to be told.
Throughout that journey, I've continued to create.
I've written thousands of pages, filled notebooks, worked on books, created music, made art, and documented experiences that most people never see. Much of that work remains unseen and unheard. Not because it doesn't matter, but because life has often demanded that survival come before sharing.
Along the way I've faced setbacks, loss, instability, financial hardship, and personal struggles that forced me to start over more times than I can count. Yet every time I was knocked down, manipulated, beaten, kidnapped, ran out of towns, held down, I keep loving. I keep moving and I keep creating. I keep trying to turn every experience into something meaningful.
Today, I'm not asking for a handout. I'm asking for help removing a few barriers.
I almost own a car that is in excellent condition, but it is currently not road legal.
I need
• $555.28 for a new insurance policy• $180 for registration• $28 for inspection
Having reliable transportation would allow me to pursue worthwhile work opportunities, travel to interviews, continue rebuilding my life, and continue the creative projects that have accompanied me through every chapter of this journey. In addition to what I’ve listed I need a cushion to utilize while obtaining a new income source which will include gas and food and whatever I can contribute to whoever is kind enough to let me stay with them for the interim.
I’m actively helping someone finish remodeling a house to sell but won’t receive any payment until it sells. I’ve secured a seasonal job with housing that doesn’t start for another week and won’t get a check for about three weeks, so any assistance is appreciated.
I've spent years trying to understand people, tell stories, and create something honest from the experiences I've lived. If you've ever believed in second chances, creative work, personal transformation, or simply helping someone regain momentum, I would appreciate your support immensely.
If you're unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser is equally appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for being part of this chapter of my journey.
