Hello, my name is Eric Lee and i'm 48 , and I’ve lived my entire life with Limb-girdle muscular dystrophy (LGMD).
Because of this condition, I rely on a wheelchair every single day. Simple things many people take for granted—like getting into a car, traveling safely, or making it to a doctor’s appointment—are incredibly difficult for me.
My health requires frequent doctor visits, therapy appointments, and medical care. These appointments are essential for managing my condition and maintaining the best quality of life possible.
The problem is transportation.
Vehicles that can safely transport someone in a wheelchair are extremely expensive. Most wheelchair-accessible vans cost tens of thousands of dollars, especially ones equipped with ramps or lifts that make them safe to enter and exit.
Right now I live on SSI and Medicaid, which helps with basic survival and medical care, but it simply does not provide enough support to afford a reliable wheelchair-accessible vehicle.
Without a proper vehicle, every trip to the doctor becomes a challenge. It can mean struggling to find transportation, worrying about safety, and sometimes missing appointments that are critical for my health.
I’m not asking for luxury.
I’m simply hoping to raise enough support to get a safe, reliable wheelchair-accessible vehicle that will allow me to:
• Travel safely to medical appointments
• Maintain independence and dignity
• Reduce the stress and physical strain of transportation
• Continue managing my condition the best I can
Living with Limb-girdle muscular dystrophy (LGMD)
is something I’ve fought through my entire life. Every day comes with challenges, but I try to stay positive and keep moving forward.
Right now I just need a little help.
If you are able to donate, even a small amount, it would truly mean the world to me. And if you cannot donate, simply sharing this fundraiser could help it reach someone who can.
Your kindness could help give me something many people take for granted:
a safe way to get where I need to go.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can give.
— Lee
