Our family is facing a battle we never expected, but we are holding onto hope and strength every single day.
Eric was recently diagnosed with small cell lung cancer (SCLC), an aggressive and fast-moving disease that changed our world overnight. As many of you that have been in similar situations know, our days are now filled with appointments, treatments, hospital stays, and tough decisions. It is the moments of courage, love, and determination from Eric that remind us to keep believing in a better tomorrow.
As the cancer and treatments have progressed, Eric’s mobility has become limited. Mentally, he hasn't wavered, but he's not the same physically. He now needs help with daily tasks and moving safely around the home. We’re working on making necessary adjustments so he can be as comfortable and independent as possible. This includes things like a suitable recliner lift chair, safety modifications to our home, and other durable medical equipment that insurance does not fully cover.
As we focus on treatment and his healing, the financial strain on our household has grown. While we are grateful for any income we currently have, the reality is that our situation is unpredictable. Eric has been strong and stoic during all of the awful news he's been given and painful procedures he's endured, but what breaks him is feeling like he's let his family down.
So many of you have reached out to us wanting to help and, to be honest, donations are what would be most helpful for us right now. If you’re able and would like to help, it would lift a tremendous weight off of Eric's shoulders and ours so we can care for him in the best ways possible. Every donation, every share, and every prayer brings us one step closer to stability and one step closer to giving Eric the space he needs to fight with everything he’s got.
Please follow along as I update you on how we got to this diagnosis and all of the progress he makes over the coming months.
From our family to yours—thank you for loving us through this.
Tanya, Jillian, Kamryn & Knox
