Help Erect Memorial for Navy Nuclear Veterans
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Richard E. Gurule. I am the current President of the Navy Nuclear Weapons Association. We are a group of former U.S. Navy Sailors that maintained the U.S. Navy nuclear arsenal from the mid-1940s to the mid-1990s and have an annual reunion to catch up and also remember past crewmates that have left us. We are a nonprofit organization and are having our 2026 reunion in Albuquerque, NM, and thought it would be a great idea to remember all that served in the Navy Nuclear field and Dedicate the Memorial at that time. The rate (job) actually started at Sandia Base (now Kirtland Air Force Base) back in the mid-1940s, so Albuquerque seemed like a great place to honor those who served.
I have obtained permission to place a memorial obelisk at the New Mexico Veteran's Memorial Park in Albuquerque, located off Louisiana Blvd. I have gotten a quote from a local memorial company to facilitate the design, engraving, and installation of the memorial obelisk and was hoping to reach out to the members of our great community to help us achieve this task. Any and all contributions will be gladly appreciated.
