From the railyards of Detroit to the front lines of Ukraine, one thing is true—railroaders look out for one another. I'm a train Conductor who, In October 2024, traveled to Ukraine and witnessed firsthand what I believe is the most courageous fight for freedom taking place anywhere in the world today.

Each day, I stood in awe of the resilience and determination of the Ukrainian people, but each night, I lay in a bomb shelter, listening for the ominous whine of drones and the thunder of ballistic missiles, hoping they wouldn’t find us. What I saw and experienced was a testament to the unbreakable human spirit in the face of brutal aggression.

Across the ocean, Ukrainian railway workers are risking their lives to keep people moving. Some are evacuating civilians, others are hauling food, fuel, and aid through shelled territories. They don’t carry weapons; they carry courage. But courage alone isn’t enough. These brothers and sisters in our “iron family” need PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to do their jobs and get home safe.

Here’s How We Can Help: I’m raising funds to send protective gear directly to Ukrainian train crews. Every dollar goes toward equipment that could save a life. These, funds will be used to purchase this safety gear and sent to the "Trade Union of Railwaymen and Transport Construction Builders of Ukraine" in Kyiv to be distributed to Railway workers.
