Last year, my brother Eoghan joined Barrog Jiu Jitsu looking for an outlet, something positive to challenge himself and grow. It quickly became clear that he had found much more than that.

From the very beginning, Eoghan showed exceptional talent and dedication. In just a short space of time, he began excelling in the sport, earning recognition and local victories that highlighted both his natural ability and relentless work ethic.

This month, Eoghan attended the Team Ireland Squad Try Outs, where he impressed selectors with not only his skill level, but also his attitude, discipline, and commitment. We were beyond proud to learn that Eoghan has since been offered a place on Team Ireland in the Youth A Division, representing his country at the IMMAF Competition in February 2026 in Serbia.

Representing Ireland has always been a dream of Eoghan’s, and to be given this opportunity after just one year in the sport is a true testament to his dedication, determination, and passion. Both his family and everyone at Barrog Jiu Jitsu are incredibly proud of what he has achieved so far.

For Eoghan, this isn’t just a sport; it’s a lifestyle, a passion, and an escape. It has given him focus, confidence, and purpose, and this opportunity means the world to him.

IMMAF is the global governing body for Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). While MMA is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, it is not currently government-funded. As a result, athletes and their families must cover the costs themselves. We are fundraising to help cover Eoghan’s travel and accommodation expenses so that he can compete in Serbia and represent Ireland on the world stage.
