Hello! We are Ensembleugh, a nondenominational, vocal-led ensemble, somewhere between an orchestra, a choir and a band. We welcome all adult musicians, trained or untrained, with a broad definition of what that could mean. Together, we work on a few pieces of music towards a concert three times a year.
The focus is on a fun, experimental approach to creating music collectively, with members making active decisions in building the texture of the sounds we create. Rehearsals take place weekly on Tuesdays at St Giles Church in Camberwell, where we also perform our gigs.
On top of rehearsal costs there are some initiatives we would like to enact that can only happen with extra support.
Members currently pay what they can each week, from £0-£10 depending on their situation. We can get by on this, but we can thrive with some funds to bolster this. As much as possible we would like to keep concert tickets as cheap as possible.
With a bit of extra help we could do the following;
Bus fare fund
In order to open up our membership we would like to offer a fund for travel for anyone who might need it to make it to rehearsals.
Kit fund
We would like to acquire some kit of our own to help build our sound and so that people can join and try out an instrument without having to buy it.
Pay designers, composers etc.
There is so much opportunity for creativity within Ensembleugh, from composition and arrangement to visuals, costumes and design. We want to properly compensate people for this work.
Pay up and coming support acts
We want to be able to give opportunities to support acts for a big gig and a decent fee for doing so.
Documentation
Being able to document our gigs well will helps us share our work, build an archive, open it up to wider audiences and provide our support acts with another positive to playing alongside us.
Access Support
We want to ensure the group remains accessible, including support for access needs where possible.
