Hello Friends,
My name is Muhammad. I am Palestinian from Gaza and have been living in the United States for over four years. I am a friend of the Skaik family, especially Ahmed, and I am organizing this fundraiser to help them rebuild their lives after losing everything. Below, I will share their story, as narrated to me by my friend Ahmed:
---
Greetings, Friends,
My name is Ahmed, and I am a 29-year-old engineer from the Skaik family in Gaza. My family consists of four members: my mother, my father, my sister Shouq (also an engineer), and myself.
Our story, in short, is that we were a simple family living a peaceful and stable life before the devastation struck. I worked as an engineer for the Palestinian Telecommunication Company, and my sister Shouq worked as a freelance graphic designer and video editor on online platforms.
My mother is a dedicated homemaker, and my father is elderly, ill, and physically disabled. He suffers from mobility issues due to spinal problems that have left him unable to walk. He also battles high blood pressure and diabetes.
The war brought destruction upon us, turning our lives upside down. It destroyed our homes, our livelihoods, and our dreams. Everything we had was wiped away, leaving us with nothing but suffering, injustice, and devastation.
Despite everything, we remain resilient and full of hope. We want to rebuild our lives, so we decided to start this fundraiser. This campaign is our only window of hope to restore our lives and find stability once more.
Our Current Needs:
Here are the most urgent necessities for us right now:
1. I need a wheelchair for my disabled father for $2000.
2. Bringing monthly medications for my father and I who suffer from chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes at $500 per month.
3. Providing my father with a nerve medication that he needs daily, but it is expensive due to its scarcity and being sold on the black market. Its price is as follows: The price of a pill is $11 x 60 pills per day, at a rate of two pills per day = $660 per month.
4. As you know, my father needs a spinal surgery It is a specialized surgery, meaning it is paid for It is the only hope for my father to walk again. The cost of the surgery is $8,500.
5. My family and I need to bring food and water on a daily basis, and as you know, prices here in Gaza are very high, so we need at least $70 every day to bring flour and some available food such as legumes or vegetables so that we can eat So we need $2,100 a month just for food.
6. We need housing costs , As you know, our relatives and I have rented an apartment for $450 a month because we cannot return to tent life due to our father’s health condition.
** Important note: These prices and costs must be paid in cash. We receive your donations through the banking application, When we want to withdraw the amount we receive and transfer it to cash, a transfer commission of 48% is taken from us , Assuming that we want to withdraw $100, we receive $52 in cash, which is equivalent to half the amount going to the commission.
This brings the total amount we need to $50,000, which is the goal of our campaign.
Final Words:
We are deeply grateful to anyone who supports us, stands by our side, and helps us survive this tragedy. Your contributions will allow us to escape this hardship and find peace and safety.
