My name is Mirela and I am Engin’s better half. Engin is only 42 years old. A loving father of three beautiful girls, the best partner, a caring son and brother, a true friend to most— and someone who still has so much life, love and fight left in him.

April 2025, our world was turned upside down when Engin was diagnosed with an aggressive Grade IV glioblastoma brain tumour. He underwent major brain surgery in the hope of removing as much of the tumour as possible, followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy, which he faced with incredible strength and determination.

But after only one year, disease recurrence and a second surgery left him with complications that changed everything. Engin woke up with weakness down the left side of his body and has since faced seizures, hospitalisations, rehabilitation and a long, painful recovery journey. Despite everything, he continues to fight every single day with courage that leaves us in awe. He is still here with us — laughing, talking, eating, loving, holding onto hope and refusing to give up.

Recently, we were told there are very limited treatment options left. However, parts of his scans and reports remain unclear, and we cannot accept walking away without seeking further expert opinions and exploring every possible avenue for more time, more treatment and more hope.

We are now trying to raise funds for urgent private consultations, specialist neuro-oncology reviews, advanced imaging, rehabilitation and potential treatments in the UK and abroad, including Germany. Glioblastoma moves fast, and time is something we simply do not have the luxury of wasting.

Anyone who knows Engin knows his heart. He has always been the person others could lean on, strong, protective, hardworking and endlessly loving towards his children, family and friends. Now he needs people around him to help carry him through the hardest battle of his life.
