Hi, My name is Michele - I am living and working in Istanbul. Over the last few years I have befriended Ender and have been helping him out. Small acts of kindness can have a big impact on those struggling.

I’d like to introduce you to my friend Ender, a kind-hearted man from Istanbul who has fallen on very hard times. Ender worked for the railways for 17 years and later in an accounting firm. A tragic accident left him without a leg, and ever since he has been waiting for another operation, moving around only with the help of crutches.

Despite his challenges, Ender is not one to beg. Instead, he helps people at bus stops and outside pharmacies, earning just 200–300 TL (about $7) on a good day.

Unfortunately, this is far from enough to cover even his most basic living costs. His modest accommodation in a small pension costs 6,000 TL ($145) per month, while food and other essential expenses add another 4,500 TL ($110). Right now, he receives only 5,700 TL ($138) in government support while waiting for a court case that may provide him with more sustainable assistance.

Until then, Ender is facing a daily struggle just to get by.

Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a direct and meaningful difference in helping him cover his rent, food, and medical needs at the current time.
