In November of 2020, my friend’s life was turned upside down by something completely out of their control.

Incorrect COVID-19 test results caused them to be hospitalized for 10 days. During that time they couldn’t advocate for themselves in a meaningful way, and most critically, couldn’t work because their computer was at home.

At the time, they held a fully remote position — a job that should have been secure even during a pandemic. But being unexpectedly unreachable for 10 days cost them that job.

That’s where everything began to unravel.

Losing that income caused their bills to start piling up. What began as a short-term disruption quickly snowballed into a long-term financial burden.

Fast forward a few years, and they are still fighting to catch up.

Not because they haven’t tried, but because digging out of a financial hole caused by lost income is incredibly difficult — especially when interest, late fees, and the cost of living keep working against you. Over the last few years, they’ve worked multiple part-time jobs and continued taking contract website development work as it was offered by both new and long-time clients.

They’ve pushed forward without giving up, but despite all of that effort, the weight of those older bills has never fully gone away.

This isn’t someone asking for a handout.

This is someone who has been working to catch up for nearly five years and just needs a chance to finally get ahead of a situation they never should have been in.

We’re raising $10,000 to help them close that gap once and for all and eliminate those lingering overdue bills. This would give them the fresh start they’ve been working toward — helping clear the past so they can build a more stable future.

This support would mean more than just financial relief. It would mean stability. It would mean breathing room. It would mean finally being able to move forward instead of constantly looking back.
