Help End Period Poverty in Ethiopia
Donation protected
An estimated 1.9 billion people menstruate worldwide, Period Poverty affects 5 million of those people.
72% of girls living in the Gambella region of Ethiopia don't go to school while menstruating due to a lack of supplies. Using unsafe products (like old rags, newspapers, scarves, and even cow dung) can cause discomfort and infections.
This summer when I go to Gambella, I will work with the locals to make cloth sanitary pads. Tampons and pads are expensive and you need to buy them monthly, but these pads can be reused for as long as 5 years. My goal is to raise $1,000 to provide these safe, reusable, and affordable menstrual products. I will purchase the materials in Gambella to support the local economy and maximize the amount I can buy. This will help the girls continue their education without interruption.
