Help a Disabled Canadian Build an Accessible Off-Grid Home

Donation protected
My name is Thomas, and I’ve been living with disability and struggling through homelessness for the past three years. Despite following every step in the system, I’ve been unable to secure stable housing. What I truly need is not just a roof over my head, but a safe, accessible home that fits my medical needs and allows me to live independently.

I also have my beloved cat, Phoenix, who is not only family but also my emotional support companion. We’ve been through everything together, and this journey is about creating a stable future for both of us.

Why I Need an Accessible Home

Living with disability means many homes simply don’t meet my needs. Stairs, narrow hallways, and inaccessible bathrooms make daily life difficult and unsafe. What I need is:

A single-level accessible layout with wide doorways and sliding doors.

A medical bed–friendly bedroom.

An accessible bathroom with walk-in shower.

A wheelchair-accessible ramp at the entrance.

Large windows to bring in sunlight and improve quality of life.

Why Off-Grid Living

Stability also means sustainability. I want to build an off-grid, solar-powered home that reduces utility costs, increases self-reliance, and allows me to grow food year-round in a greenhouse. With better insulation, double-glazed windows, and renewable energy, this home will be built to last — secure, affordable, and environmentally friendly.

How Donations Will Be Used

Every donation brings me closer to breaking free from homelessness and creating a safe, permanent home. Funds will go toward:

Purchasing a small acreage of affordable land in Ontario.

Building a small, fully accessible single-floor house.

Installing solar power and insulation for efficiency.

Setting up a year-round greenhouse for food security.

Covering basic move-in costs (materials, transport, essentials).

Giving Back: Growing Hope for Others

This home is not the end of my journey — it’s the beginning of giving back. Once I am stable, I plan to dedicate my days to growing fruit-bearing plants and trees that I can share with others in the community. By planting these trees in people’s yards, I hope to create a living thank-you to everyone who helped me off the streets — a gift that will provide nourishment and hope for years to come.

Why This Means Everything

This is more than a house — it’s a chance at stability, independence, and dignity. It’s a chance for me to continue my passions, like gardening, and to finally live without the fear of losing everything again.

Your support doesn’t just help me — it creates the foundation for a life where I can give back and grow something meaningful for others.
