My name is Josie Pondel and I have been rescuing cats and TNRing for over 5 years. This is the first time I have found one of my colony cats severely injured. I trapped her today and brought her to VEG - they said she needs the leg amputated.
A kind colony caretaker who helps me has a sister who is a veterinarian, and she is willing to perform the amputation and provide all necessary treatment for just $700 — a fraction of what emergency surgery would normally cost. This is truly her chance. They reserved her appointment for March 16th.
When I first saw her she was limping badly, not using her back leg at all, and hiding it. Right now, she is suffering. She can hardly walk. Every step is painful. And as a feral cat, she doesn’t understand why this is happening to her — she just knows it hurts.
But despite being feral, she has shown incredible resilience. She allowed me to help her. And I am not giving up on her even though euthanasia is all that has been suggested but I know I can help her.
After surgery, I am committing to keeping her safely crated indoors so she can fully heal and recover — even though she’s feral she doesn’t freak out and eats in front of me. She deserves the opportunity to live pain-free. Cats adapt amazingly well to three legs, and once she heals, she can go on to live a comfortable, happy life without constant suffering. I am hoping to socialize her.
I really just need help to get her there.
Every dollar will go directly toward her surgery and recovery. If you can donate, share, or even say a prayer for this brave girl, it would mean everything. She has fought so hard to survive outside — now she needs us to fight for her.
Please help us raise $700 to give her a second chance at life without pain.
Thank you for caring about this sweet soul who doesn’t have a voice of her own.
I will share any and all updates before and after surgery.
