Education is in crisis in America. It forces many students to move on before they have learned the material, which makes it much harder for them to learn related material in the future, thereby condemning them to flunk out. It bores most students to death, making them want to drop out. And it has less relevance to the needs of students, their families, and their communities in the digital age and the age of artificial intelligence.
I've dedicated over 50 years of my life, as a teacher and consultant/researcher working with schools, to learning how to make schooling better -- how to motivate students, accelerate their learning, and make their learning more relevant to today's needs. Reform of schools cannot overcome the crisis. School systems must transform their structure to be successful.
I need funding to support production of a nine-chapter podcast series on the education crisis. It describes the nature of the crisis, why it exists, what some pioneering schools have done to get out of the crisis (systemic transformation), and advice for educators, parents, and leaders to get their schools out of the crisis.
The funding is not for me. It is for the producer, to cover the costs of production, distribution, and marketing. I have already written the script, done test recordings and formative evaluations of all nine chapters, and recorded educators in several schools that have dramatically transformed to offer concrete examples and evidence of success.
Good education is essential for the health of a democracy and the vibrancy of an economy. Your support will allow thousands or even tens of thousands of people to understand the nature and urgency of the education crisis in America, and more importantly to learn how to get their schools out of the crisis. I am happy to make scripts and test recordings available for your review. And you can learn more about me here.
