Help En raise funds to immigrate and transition in Canada

Hi, my name is Enya, I'm a transgender woman from Texas raising funds to settle and keep myself afloat in Canada. With the escalation of the Trump presidencies anti-trans action, and his general targeting of anyone who does not fit into his image of America, I need to find legal residence, either through claiming asylum or other means, I know it is no longer safe to return to the US anywhere.

I had come out to my family in 2019, and unfortunately I was not accepted. It took some time to save, and with the help of generous friends, here and elsewhere, I was finally able to save enough to travel to Canada in August of 2024 on a visitor's visa. Here I'm living with dear friends who I consider found family. When I arrived I was given conditions to acquire a work visa, however it was not long before I learned the method was no longer possible due to foreign worker policy changes a few days after my arrival. I also have not been allowed to work as an artist or musician, both direct skill sets and my primary source of income while I lived in Austin. Since then I have been living off of the occasional donation, using it for food, toiletries, clothing and other daily living expenses.

Being unable to work has been a consistent source of stress, and is been compounded with the approaching end of my current visitor's visa extension in late April, and the real risk to my life starting as immediately as crossing the border back to the US.

I am desperately in need of financial and legal aid to remain here. I cannot emphasize enough how serious and real the risk of harm is to me if I am forced to return.

I would use these funds for day to day living in Canada, and to afford legal advice and tools to help with the immigration/asylum seeking process, such as any fees that may arise while seeking aid, or submitting forms. Right now the primary goal is to gain enough money to afford another extension request, to buy time while I continue to contact nonprofits for help. As of March, 17th 2025 all groups I have been in contact with have said the likelihood of a successful asylum claim as a trans American citizen is near zero.

I have learned that unfortunately the conditions given to me upon my arrival for seeking a work visa are no longer applicable and at this time I have no way to work legally, with normal retail work or my own art and music. And I do not have the funds to seek the legal aid to work through this situation right now either.

Your donation will be helpful as I contribute to the household I live with, food and other needs, pay fees for submitting paperwork, seek legal aid, fight for legal residency, eventually begin HRT, as well as allow me to actually live and adapt to my new environment, where I am finally starting to be comfortable with myself.

If you can spare anything to help with this process, I would greatly appreciate it. Since my last update to this months ago, things have only gotten worse, I am horrified of what the future holds. Please, I need your help to stay safe, remain in Canada with my found family, and hopefully be lucky enough to begin medically transitioning.
