Help Emylee Attend National Leadership Forum

Hello , my name is Emylee Chavez . I am current 7th grade gifted student at Taos middle school and I wanted to share my journey with you all .

I was born with a rare congenital heart disease that many missed when I was brought into this world . In 2013 I was 18 months old when they discovered there was something wrong with me . I went under immediate open heart surgery and spent a month in the hospital . I was released with continuous flow of oxygen for 24hrs for a whole year . I underwent my 2nd second surgery and was able to be breathe on my own . In 2018 I had my last open heart surgery and will no longer need anymore invasive surgeries.

That being said , it has brought my passion closer to the medical field and hope to become a MD myself to help others live a healthy stable life . I was extremely pleased to be nominated to a national youth leadership Forum for 5 days this summer as I chose one of my top options for college . University of Miami . It gives me a wide of opportunities for my future and I hope I could have the support from you all to help me experience this opportunity of a lifetime !
