Help Empower Young Leaders in Cape Town’s Townships
Donation protected
My husband and I traveled to South Africa in February 2025 and had the opportunity to meet and work with the incredible teachers and children at Capricorn Primary.
For many of the students there, the weight of poverty and the limitations of their environment often drown out the belief that they can be anything more. One amazing 6th-grade teacher is determined to change that — and we want to help her bring this powerful vision to life.
She has created a Leadership Program designed to give these young students the tools, confidence, and mindset to step into their own power. This program doesn’t just teach them about leadership — it shows them that they are more than their circumstances.
The Program:
Every month, nine students are chosen to attend leadership and life-skills workshops, covering topics like discipline, self-confidence, and communication. The goal is to ensure that by the end of the year, every child has gone through the program, giving each one a fair shot at becoming a school prefect and growing into a community leader.
A highlight of the program will be a special weekend trip outside of Capricorn — a life-changing experience that gives these kids space to breathe, dream, and rethink what is possible.
What We Need Help With:
1. Funds to organize monthly workshops for the next year
2. Funds for workshop materials and resources
3. Funds for food & accommodation for the weekend trip away
4. Expansion of this program to reach even more students
These kids have the power to break cycles, become role models in their schools and communities, and carry forward the message that you can choose your path, no matter your beginnings. By supporting this program, you're not just funding a school activity — you're helping to build future leaders who will uplift their community from the inside out.
Every contribution, no matter how small, will directly help change a child’s outlook on life.
