Why donate and why now?
Want to join us and help make an impact locally? The University of North Texas B.A.A.S program urgently seeks to raise money to benefit the International Rescue Committee of Dallas. Any donation will help create an immediate impact. Every day 32,000 people are forcibly displaced from their homes, and approximately 1,200-1,500 refugees come to Dallas, Texas every year seeking a better life. In the recent year, there has been an influx of refugees from Afghanistan that have come to Texas. The International Rescue Committee has resettled over 26,000 refugees in Texas alone since 1975. Let's continue to grow their efforts by donating today and helping spread the word!

How is your donation helping?
Money donated will go directly towards the following programs:
  • Food Security: is contributed significantly by Federal grants and supportive donors to provide nutritionally sound food to keep our refugees healthy.
  • Education: is vital to refugees -especially children- because it allows them to think of their future rather than their horrific past. The majority of refugees between the ages 15-25 years may not read at their age level. Your donations can bridge the gap by providing resources, tools, advocates, and advisors to teach them the English language and help them adjust to their new surroundings. Furthermore, 48% of refugees are minors who require immediate attention.
  • Resettlement & Placement: currently, several refugees are temporarily staying in hotel rooms- which amount to an immense expense. Donors contribute directly to permanent safe housing solutions to call their future home.
  • Digital Literacy: in October 2021, 100 computers were generously donated to IRC -Dallas. Continuous donations will help refugees build digital skills and confidence in a tech-savvy community to advance in employment and educational settings.
  • Immigration & Legal: is a vital component in providing humanitarian, parolee, refugee, asylum, citizenship, and overall legal services from the country of turmoil directly to the United States for a safe haven.
  • Job Security: specialists and mentors provide economic empowerment and placement by guiding them through required degrees, licenses, and certification options to begin their professional careers in the US.
  • Mental Health: by staffing mental health professionals, refugees receive Teledoc services, counseling, medications, therapy for free that too with a personalized and culturally respectable approach. This allows for refugees to begin a step towards healing from their trauma.
Where is your donation going?
  • Federal agencies such as Foreign Disaster Assistance, Bureau of Population Refugees and Migration, and Department of Health and Human Services provide relief programs. These extraordinary efforts are impossible without the continuous support of federal contributions and your generous donations.
  • Your contributions are also treated as charitable donations by the Internal Revenue Services. The IRS provides transparency in distributing funds while prohibiting donors or advisors from receiving incidental benefits. (87 cents of every dollar IRC spends worldwide goes directly to help refugees and others in desperate need.) With clear intent, you will find comfort knowing your contribution may provide medical care, clean water, emergency shelter, or other lifesaving support.
It Takes a Villiage…
Together, we can help give these refugees access to healing, learning, and opportunity. Which, in return, can help shape the future of not only Dallas but the world. Education and spreading awareness for supporting refugees in the Dallas area is a major key to allowing their voices to be heard. Refugees are survivors who reach and develop their full potential to engage in local activities and events. They help integrate new opportunities, skills, knowledge and culture to promote diversity and inclusion. By coming together as a community and acknowledging the urgency, we invest in refugees to thrive, not just survive, in Dallas.

We reap the benefits as they go into the world as productive and contributing community members.
Please donate generously and don't forget to spread the word!
