Hi ! My name is Emory and I am a Trans Non-Binary individual. I first came out as Non-Binary in 2019 and since then I have been incredibly lucky to continue discovering how to become more comfortable in my identity. Now more than ever my gender expression is beginning to feel more aligned with how I’ve felt for so long, but there is one big thing that is still holding me back.
My biggest source of dysphoria has always been from my chest. I struggle to bind too regularly due to anxiety but even when I am binding, I can’t help but feel constantly reminded of a part of my appearance which I didn’t ever want to have. I have ended up turning inwards for most of my life due to feeling incomplete and out of control of this particular part of myself, which reinforces how the world views me, stripping me of autonomy and confidence.
To be able to live the rest of my life without my breasts would allow me to feel much more connected to my body and be fully present in the world as my true self.
Receiving top surgery would be a live-saver for me, but unfortunately the NHS waiting list is very lengthy - at least a 5 year wait just to have a consultation. I’m not sure I can wait much longer. My mental health has already been impacted by my dysphoria for the majority of my life.
The private cost for the surgery is not something I can afford - currently estimated to be around £9200. This includes the consultation, two letters from gender specialists and surgery itself. I have set my goal for this fundraiser as the full cost, but any amount of donations I can gather to bring me closer to my goal I would be extremely grateful for.
Thank you <3
