Help Emmy Attend The National Theater Institute

Hi, my name is Emmy McCafferty! I have spent the last semester studying at The National Theater Institute at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Waterford, CT. The National Theater Institute is a fully immersive, conservatory style theater program. At NTI, students study and train for 10 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is called the Launchpad of the American Theater because its alumni have gone on to work on Broadway, in TV, and in film. Some alumni of The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center include Meryl Streep, John Krasinski, Jennifer Garner, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Elizabeth Olsen, just to name a few. One of the many amazing things about NTI is that students are taught by industry professionals. We learn so much from these teachers who are experts in their craft and one another as fellow student-artists. We build incredible relationships that will last a lifetime.

Those who know me, know how much I love performing. I’ve loved singing and acting for as long as I can remember. It is a central part of who I am and brings me inexplicable joy. I always desired to pursue a career in the arts but was not quite sure how to go about it. It was this desire to pursue the arts professionally, that led me to discover NTI. I applied, was accepted and I've been deeply in love with NTI ever since. I loved my semester at NTI so much. I have learned and grown so much as an artist and as a person. I've had so many opportunities at The National Theater Institute that I would not have been given anywhere else. Not only have I developed as an actress, singer, and musician, but I have discovered my love for music composition, writing, and directing. My original plan was to come to NTI for one semester, go back to Mississippi in the Spring, and figure out my next steps. However, after attending the program, I knew I couldn't leave quite yet. I need to continue studying what I love. Studying and training is what I crave as an artist and what I feel I need as an individual. I don't want to spend time not growing, learning, and creating. This is what I am meant to do. It brings me great joy and a deep sense of purpose. There is still so much more I want to do, learn, and accomplish. I applied to attend NTI's Spring 2022 semester program and was accepted. A wonderful program like NTI, understandably, does not come without a cost. I was blessed to receive a generous scholarship from NTI, but I could really use the help of those that can, to make this dream of attending NTI for another semester possible. I am currently back home with my family for Christmas and the month of January until, February 1st when the Spring semester begins. I humbly ask for your help to reach this goal of $4,500. Regardless, I am deeply appreciative of the love and support I have received from so many of you. Thank you very much.
Love, Emmy.
