I’m getting top surgery! It’s taken a long time, but I’m so grateful it’s finally here. If you are able and willing I’d love your help, any little bit helps. Even a dollar or a meal.
For those of you who may not know me or only know me a little, hi! My name is Emmett and I'm a 30 year old trangender man living in Los Angeles and working in film production. I've been needing top surgery, a form of gender affirming care, for over a decade now, and it's finally here!
My surgery date is June 1st. I've been fighting for more than a year with my insurance to try and get this surgery approved, I even changed insurance plans to one that has a much higher out of pocket cost. Now I have finally gotten the approval I needed from my insurance, but unfortunately, I have to pay $8,335 out of pocket prior to my surgery date.
My job in art production as a set dresser is very physical, so aside from the out-of-pocket cost of the surgery itself I'll also be losing my main source of income while I'm recovering.
If you are able to help out financially I’d be very grateful, and I made a sticker as a thank you to those who can. A quick list of ways you can help: donate to my GoFundMe, or support my MealTrain attached below. Here is how your donations will help me:
-Cover cost of surgery
-Cost of recovery supplies and medications
-Cost of follow-up appointments and possible medical complications
-Covering rent and monthly bills
-Covering groceries
Please feel free to share this with others you think would be willing and able to help, though I’m not sharing this news openly on social media at the moment so please do not tag me directly if you do post this.
