SHAD Program Support Fundraiser:

Hello, thanks for stopping by and considering a financial support donation!

I am Emmett Macklem, a grade 11 high school honours student, lifeguard, competitive athlete (cycling & running) and stellar older brother (IMHO). I'm raising funds for my $2,000 portion of the tuition & travel costs to attend the summer 2024 SHAD Canada program at Carleton University this July.

SHAD CANADA is a month-long university-level STEAM and entrepreneurship program where Grade 10 & 11 students, mentored by academic & industry mentors, attempt to solve & monetize real-world STEAM problems creating a unique learning experience while living on-campus at many CDN universities.

What I will provide you, for supporting me:

I will provide a post-trip report detailing my SHAD experience and be happy to talk to parents and kids thinking about SHAD in the future. Supporters will get insights into the program, the mentors I meet, the participating schools and the knowledge I gained while away. I will be running a private Instagram story with daily posts that parents and kids can follow. Additionally, I’ll be happy to assist future applicants in the acceptance process, answering questions to support this amazing program. I'll also provide the report to interested people curious about the program; like my grandmother, thanks for $350 Mummi! :)

Why SHAD?

SHAD offers an incredible opportunity for students like me to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) while living in a university setting. A month-long, university test drive for me (and my family). It’s a chance to connect with like-minded peers, learn from experts, and gain valuable insights into various fields of study and business.

My Goals:

I aspire to study computer science and/or business at the post-secondary level. Attending SHAD will help me realize my academic career goals and provide a solid foundation for my future studies. Plus, one month away from my brother, haha!

How You Can Help:

Although my parents are covering most of the costs, I'm also saving for my full Fall 2025 university career. So, I am seeking financial support to help cover part of my $2,000 contribution to the SHAD program & travel costs.
